What’s the difference between the boiler warranty and the boiler guarantee

The difference between the boiler guarantee is where the boiler was to fail, regardless of the maintenance, the fault or boiler repair will be fixed. Here is an example, Joe Smith the customer has his boiler fitted 3-years ago on the cheap.

The system wasn’t cleared out to manufactures instructions, however, under the boiler guarantee, the manufacture still fixes the problem with no cost to the consumer.

With the boiler warranty under the same situation, the representative from the manufactures still comes, but then says, this is not covered under the warrantee due to you not having the central heating system cleared out, therefor, you will need to hire out a company to fix this but also pay for this yourself.

Is having a boiler guarantee better than having a boiler warranty

Having a boiler guarantee is always going to be better than having a boiler warranty for the reason you are guaranteed to have your boiler fixed within the guarantee period but your not guaranteed to have it fixed within the warrantee period.

Can having a guarantee discourage having a boiler fitted correctly

If the consumer and the fitter knows more about guarantees and the warranty, then this may have an effect on, if the consumer wants to save money in the short term, say 5-years or the engineer is cutting corners, knowing that if there is a problem, the manufacture to the central heating boiler will most likely come out and fix it anyway. So in Martin’s opinion, this will encourage incorrectly fitted central heating boilers.

Can having a warranty encourage having a boiler fitted correctly

Having a boiler under warranty will encourage occupants to want there central heating boilers fitted correct because if they don’t, in the short term the effect can be very costly.

It will also encourage fitters to fit the central heating boiler correctly because if they don’t, it will be them coming back out within the 12-months period or if outside the period, the customer having to pay more to get the work done correctly.

Which is the best boiler to buy when it comes to the boiler warranty vs guarantee

The best central heating boiler to buy if its purely to do with the warranty versus guarantee in Martin Smith’s opinion would be completely down to preferential requirements such as, how your going to be looking after the boiler, are you going to get it maintained or not.

If your not going to look after the central heating boiler in the way you should be looking after it, then the guarantee would be better for you.

If your going to look after the central heating boiler to the book, then the warranty is best, because you will most likely going to get a longer period of piece of mind, but also the boiler will last longer without needing boiler repairs.

Remember, the omen is on the customer and not the manufactures.

Can a warranty save money in the short term or the long term

The boiler warranty is not made up to save you in the short term, as the boiler has to be fitter to manufactures instruction, meaning: it has to be done correctly, but it will most likely save you money in the long term, as long as you get the yearly service done on it, but most important is to have it fitted correctly.

Can the guarantee save you money in the long term or the short term

The guarantee will most likely not save money in the long term if the boiler is not fitted correctly and the boiler has not been maintained correctly.

Another point to take is, if you do get the central heating boiler fitted correctly and has also been maintained and the guarantee is short, then a central heating boiler that has a longer warrantee is is better, if anything fails past the guarantee period, you will have to pay for the repair yourself.

Why do boiler companies offer a long guarantee rather than a warranty

If a central heating boiler company offer a guarantee, what they are telling the customer is, our central heating boiler is better than the boiler with a warrantee.

Maybe with the manufacture, its a marketing trick to convince customers to buy there boiler or maybe the fact is, there central heating boiler is the best.

It is left up to the consumer to choose which is the best boiler through what other people have to say, but if you were to ask Martin Smith, the best boiler for 2015 was the Vaillant followed by the Worcester and then the Baxi according to a pole of about 15 different manufactures.

Should boiler companies offer a warranty instead of a guarantee

Too be fair in Martin’s opinion, to offer a warranty encourages the customer to have there central heating boiler fitted correctly, where a guarantee basically says, don’t worry if the boiler is fitted incorrectly, after a year or so, the manufacture or rep will still come out and fix the central heating boiler within the guarantee period.

This would mean on a long terms perspective, the warrantee would be much better.

Who does it cost more when offering a guarantee, the consumer or the manufactures

When offering a guarantee, it will cost the manufacture more in the short term, but in the long term it will cost the customer if the boiler is not correctly keeping up with servicing and having it correctly fitted.
